The primary aim with this piece was to look at issues of sustainability. The seat/table uses one repeating shape of plywood which is square cut from one piece of board. Fewer types of material is better if the raw materials are to be recycled or reclaimed. The construction uses no glue or surface finish on the wood, and the steel pin can be removed. By making a piece of furniture that can carry out two tasks and fold away, it becomes more versatile and in theory means you can have one product in place of two.

Materials

12mm birch ply, elastic rope, bamboo spacer pieces, steel pin.
