I designed this chair to be part of a group exhibition at DesignersBlock London 2005. Our theme for the exhibition was "Dark Design" and we all created projects with a slightly sinister edge but also with a light hearted or humorous twist.
Paddy Chair
The Paddy Chair is a comfy upholstered chair with the theme of a padded cell. The enclosed shape is meant to offer an experience of safety and security, and give the user a sanctuary from the rapid pace and noise of everyday life. The chair is large enough to fit two people so you can share the quiet space with a friend.
Materials
The chair is made from MDF and pine panels, solid pine legs, polyurethane foam and wadding, and cotton canvas upholstery. The legs and 60% of the foam are from reclaimed sources.
Availability
It was made as a one-off project for the exhibition but can be made to order in any colour. Contact me for more information.
